“I would at least like to comment on what the President of Artsakh said. What can we expect from that person? I do not know if it is the result of an agreement, what their goal is, or if it is another matter. Something was said in Armenia that it is impossible not to respond to, in fact, the Artsakh declaration was questioned. By the way, I am one of the authors of that declaration. I wrote it with Karen Baburyan,” the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan stated at Monday’s press conference, answering the question about how the President of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan responded very harshly to Nikol Pashinyan yesterday, and if he thinks it is possible that this may be of a formal nature or if he sees any dangerous tendency in terms of separating Artsakh from Armenia. Later, Robert Kocharyan referred to the situation around the Artsakh issue, noting that at the last press conference, Nikol Pashinyan made a decision regarding Armenia’s position on the status of Nagorno Karabakh.
“It is already clear that if the Prime Minister says that since 2016 there was not even a theoretical possibility for Karabakh to have a status outside Azerbaijan, this is Armenia’s position. This means that Armenia has washed its hands of Karabakh. With these recent statements, the Prime Minister, in fact, questioned Artsakh’s September 2 declaration, which is the basis for the existence and formation of Karabakh. Either they do not understand what they are doing or they have planned it.”
