Nikol Pashinyan: “In the field of security, the Republic of Armenia must first clarify what Kazakhstan owes us and what we owe Kazakhstan”

January 10,2022 10:30

The speech of the head of the NA Yelq faction, Nikol Pashinyan, in the Foreign Relations Committee in 2017, where a negative conclusion was given to the proposal to leave the EEU

“I want to say something about the CSTO, which is also in the election program of the Yeloq alliance. Do we, who are sitting at the table, now know what obligations the CSTO countries have to us in specific situations and what obligations we have? We say CSTO, CSTO, CSTO all day long. As soon as the attack starts, it turns out that the CSTO thing is that the agreement is not for that case, it does not refer to the village of Movses, it is not for that case.

There are other Armenian villages there, not Movses, not Chinari, not Berd, not Ijevan, not Noyemberyan. This is for a completely different case. That is why we wrote in our pre-election program. We need to understand what the CSTO is. The CSTO is arming our enemy, the CSTO supports our enemy the most.

Kazakhstan and Belarus are the most typical examples. And we wrote in our pre-election program that the CSTO should clarify what our obligations are. Otherwise, tomorrow we will fall on Kars Day again, we will say, oh, where is the CSTO agreement? The CSTO agreement will lie next to the Sevres agreement. CSTO, you turned the CSTO into what they call Bruce Lee.

But what is that CSTO really, is it good or bad for us? In this regard, it is very important that the Republic of Armenia first clarifies in the field of security what Kazakhstan owes us and what we owe Kazakhstan, and what to do next. In the field of security, yes, an alternative must be sought.”
