“Being a supporter of Armenia-Turkey diplomatic relations, being a participant in the first official talks between the two countries, I think that in this situation going to establish diplomatic relations and open borders with Turkey is the biggest threat for Armenia,” this opinion was expressed by the former director of the National Security Service (NSS) and ambassador David Shahnazaryan during a press conference at the Sputnik Armenia Multimedia Press Center. According to him, the war is not over yet, and Turkey is adding new conditions to the traditional preconditions.
“These include the recognition of the Kars Treaty by Armenia, the recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the consideration of Nagorno-Karabakh as an integral part of Azerbaijan, and the renunciation of the genocide issue in general. Now, they have added a third: the corridors between Nakhichevan and Azerbaijan, which are the Turkish corridors. The Armenian government will try to implement this.”
According to David Shahnazaryan, if the demarcation process starts, it will not take long, and we will have this picture.
“What we have today, on the Goris-Kapan road, Azerbaijani border checkpoints, we will have this on the Yerevan-Goris road in Tigranashen, in the Voskepar region, on the highway that connects Armenia with Azerbaijan. The demarcation that is taking place now is nonsense. We do not even have a ceasefire with Azerbaijan, but we are going to demarcate the border.”

According to David Shahnazaryan, the Armenian authorities have already agreed with the Turkish side on the means of communication, in particular the ways that should connect Nakhichevan with Azerbaijan.
“The Armenian authorities are talking about opening all vehicles in the region around Armenia, but Azerbaijan is closing them. The most striking example is the Goris-Kapan road, which is important for us. In other words, the opposite process is going on. In the future, they can allow the next government of the Republic of Armenia to cancel it immediately, having a very solid basis for that under international law. All these processes take place under the influence of the use of force and the threat of force.”
According to David Shahnazaryan, the Armenian authorities are governed from outside. He noted, “In fact, the Armenian authorities are oriented towards Turkey in the Russia-West decision. The fact is that both Turkey and Azerbaijan are vital dangers for Armenia, and the biggest danger for the Armenians of Armenia is the current government of Armenia “.
