Isabella Sargsyan: “It does not matter how many of us there are, it is important that the government sees that this voice exists and that people are ready to take to the streets as well”

On Thursday, a group of citizens protested in front of the government building against the continuous human losses in the “peace era.” The head of the initiative, Isabella Sargsyan, explained to the media that this was a spontaneous peaceful event in which she and concerned citizens raised the issue of the inadmissibility of incessant human losses in peacetime.

“The government must ensure the right to life and security of its citizens. People are constantly writing on social media, complaining and upset that such things are happening, but it all remains in the virtual world. I just wrote on Facebook that something needs to be done. People responded and came today. This is, in fact, a spontaneous protest of the citizens. By demanding the right to life, we mean everything starting from the border.

Every state, government, and authority has a responsibility to ensure the safety of its citizens. But we see that this is not happening in our country. The country’s leadership declares that it is bringing an era of peace and there will be no more casualties. But that is not the case. Two days ago, three young soldiers were killed at the border in the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and two people were wounded,” said Isabella Sargsyan and added, “It does not matter how many people are here today. It is important that the government sees that this voice exists and that people are ready to take to the streets as well. Pay attention: most of them are women. We care about the health of our children, our brothers, our parents. It can not go on for so long, we must finally put an end to this reality.”
