Russia expects an official response from Baku and Yerevan on the forthcoming official visits of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to the region. Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing on Thursday.
“Russia, as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, supports the continuation of this measure, first of all in accordance with its mandate, taking into account the regional realities that have emerged after 2020. Our position is fully shared by the partners of the Minsk Group, the United States, and France, which was reflected in the 2021 resolution of the Foreign Ministries of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in a joint statement on December 7,” Zakharova said.
According to her, the document called on Baku and Yerevan to receive the co-chairs in the region in the near future, which will allow them to assess the situation “on the spot” and achieve tangible progress in the implementation of humanitarian initiatives discussed at the triple meetings with Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers.
