At Thursday’s government session, when the decision to increase the amount of compensation for diplomats was discussed, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that we have gaps in diplomatic service.
The new regulation will allow the state to cover not only expenses incurred during the relocation of diplomats and their families but also the initial expenses during the first month of the business trip before receiving payments due to them.
Nikol Pashinyan said that they understand well that their move to increase the compensation of diplomats will be criticized and speculated, and that they are taking the step at the expense of their political resources, even at the expense of people’s trust. “But our presence here will be meaningless if we do not pave the way for institutional development, starting with special services and state bodies. We have been criticized the most for that, but I am glad that we had that political will and moved forward. It had its results, otherwise, citizens would not have gone and voted for our team.”
