1lurer.am. Today we should talk not about the CSTO support for Armenia, but about the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Former CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha stated this at a press conference, referring to the question whether the CSTO will provide the same assistance to Armenia as Kazakhstan, if necessary.
“I am deeply aware of the Karabakh issue and other related issues; I have dealt with them a lot. I do not want to talk about the CSTO reaction today, as in Kazakhstan. I want to talk about the need to assist Armenia and Azerbaijan in establishing recognized borders,” Bordyuzha said.
According to him, it means creating joint groups, receiving archival materials, maps of different years, including from Russia, as well as making a mutually acceptable decision on the border.
“First of all, we are talking about delimitation, which will immediately rule out issues related to armed conflicts, skirmishes, and then demarcation,” the former CSTO official added.

According to him, Russia has offered mediation efforts, provided historical materials, maps from the archives of the Ministry of Defense, so that they can serve as a basis for a joint Armenian-Azerbaijani working group.
“I do not think that at this stage it is possible to work out the issue of sending troops and providing military assistance to Armenia. What has been done so far, including the deployment of peacekeepers in Karabakh, is a guarantee of stability,” Bordyuzha added.
