At the February 7 sitting of the National Assembly Committee on European Integration, the chair of the European Party of Armenia, Tigran Khzmalyan, was hosted to discuss RA-EU agenda issues as an interested extra-parliamentary force. The chair of the commission, Civil Contract deputy Arman Yeghoyan informed those present that Khzmalyan expressed a desire to be involved in the work of the commission and to be useful, to present the views of his colleagues.
Khzmalyan noted that during the online discussion, he will ask his European partners not to discuss any economic or political agreement with Azerbaijan until all Armenian prisoners of war are returned. The chair of the commission, Arman Yeghoyan, in his turn, said that the new EU-Azerbaijan agreement has been ready for more than two years, but it has not been signed in any way.
“In December of last year, they were preparing to sign it, but it was not signed for political reasons. There are problems. We should extend and deepen that problem as much as possible. I think the commission will not mind the extra-parliamentary forces sending messages on behalf of the parliamentary forces to their EU partners. You can come up with such proposals in the forthcoming discussions.”

Arman Yeghoyan also asked Tigran Khzmalyan what his vision is for the Armenia-EU relations. Khzmalyan answered that the goal of the party is Armenia’s membership in the EU and NATO in order to solve its problems.
“In terms of civilization, Armenia is part of Europe. The political developments of recent years force us to come up with a proposal in European structures that the Ukraine-Moldova-Georgia-Armenia axis should be created as a valuableble and civilized part of a larger Euroe.”
