“I do not care at all about dictators who can insult the identity of the Armenian people,” said Sergey Bagratyan, a member of the Civil Contract, speaking about Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus. Lukashenko said that other republics of the post-Soviet space could join Belarus and Russia in a united country, most likely Armenia, because “nobody needs it.” Bagratyan said that the President of Belarus has nothing to do with his people.
“It has as much to do with the Caspian Sea as it does with the Baltic Sea. So I suggest that we do not discuss the words of dictators in our agenda. We should discuss the process of our democratic development. That’s left in the throats of some dictators. It is this democratization that does not allow them to forgive the current democratic process in Armenia, which was assessed in the highest tribune.
This is the bone left in their throats. In other cases, we must unite around our statehood to prevent even dictators from making any insulting remarks against the Armenian people. If any dictator makes an insulting statement, it defines his identity, not the people he was elected leader of at the time and who will soon be in the dustbin of history.”
