“As I stated, an agreement has been reached at the level of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan on the restoration and construction of the Yeraskh-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadiz railway. Instructions were given. I have formed a working group, which is already engaged in organizing the construction of the railway,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on February 9 during a government-NA questions-and-answers session. He informed, “Now we are discussing the issue of financing technical work, design, and construction work. According to the agreement reached in Brussels, it should become an agreement on paper.
We have agreed that the railway will operate according to international standards, within the framework of the legislation and sovereignty of the two countries. Border and customs control will be carried out at the border crossing points. The railways must touch it, so we must agree on the parameters to build.” According to Nikol Pashinyan, that railway will become a route for international cargo transportation․ “It is important that the document is signed quickly. In our estimation, there is no need for ratification, but if there is a need, it should be ratified in the parliament. As for the transport routes, we are waiting for Azerbaijan’s response to start the restoration and construction process.”
