“We will never be part of Azerbaijan. Let everyone know this. This is unacceptable,” said Davit Babayan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh, referring to the issue of Artsakh’s status at a briefing with journalists on February 12. He asked, “What should the world do if it says that we should join Azerbaijan? If we do not want to, what will they do? Will they massacre us? Of course not. And the encroachments of Azerbaijan will not frighten us. We are unbreakable. Let everyone know this.”
As for the statement of the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Armenia recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan back in 1992, Davit Babayan stressed, “Armenia has never officially recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Second, Artsakh does not exist in the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.”
Davit Babayan participated in the presentation of his two books at the National Academy of Sciences, and during the discussion the members of the National Academy of Sciences also asked about the status of Artsakh. Davit Babayan reaffirmed, “Artsakh’s society says that we will never be part of Azerbaijan. If society is so demoralized that it has no value and goal, it will be the goal of the opponent to turn us from a nation into a people, from a people into a crowd, from a crowd into a race. Sorry for being rude. That is, it turns into a mass, for which only eating is important. If this happens, even the most powerful country standing next to us will not save us. We have no prospects in Azerbaijan, especially in this Azerbaijan. How do you imagine we can be part of Azerbaijan? As for other countries, no one can force us to do anything.”
