Two of Turkey’s key preconditions, for some reason, are not widespread in Armenia. This was announced on February 11 by Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan during the discussion “Armenia-Turkey: Reconciliation Under Bayraktars.”
He noted, “The leaders of the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Turkey have said that they should strive for it so that Armenia no longer has armed forces. Judging by the statements of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, it can be stated that a goal has been set so that Armenia does not have armed forces. When the Armenian government announces that it should join a professional army, it is a reduction of the army, while we must increase the army even more.”
The speaker noted that since last year, it has been emphasized as a precondition that Armenia should close the nuclear power plant and not have a new one. “This is one of Turkey’s priorities, because one of the guarantees of Armenia’s sovereignty is the independent energy system. If they force us not to have an energy system, you make us dependent.
The blockade actually implies our blockade, because they will control the roads. We will use the Azerbaijani railway as a slave, there will be no army, no independent energy system. What will be left for us to be able to say that we are an independent country?”
