“Let me say very clearly that the European Parliament did not recognize the results of the war. We have clearly stated that war can never be considered an acceptable solution,” said Marina Kaljurand (Estonia), Member of the European Parliament, during the sittings of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly committees in Yerevan on February 22.
“If we are really talking about long-term peace, it is possible to achieve it through negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. War is not a solution. Both sides say that actions are needed, for example, demarcation and delimitation. These are the small political steps that are needed now to strengthen trust and mutual respect,” said Marina Kaljurand. She then called on both sides to refrain from insulting rhetoric.
“We are talking about both the leaders of the countries and the parliamentary representatives. It hinders moving forward. We, as members of the European Parliament, have come here to help you and we can not solve your problems on your behalf. You have to solve the problems, but we are ready to help, just say where.”
