“Strengthen Armenia-US ties, protect Artsakh, get the US government to support Artsakh. The work of the Armenian National Committee is unchanged. At the same time, the US government must end its assistance to Azerbaijan. In recent years, the US government has provided about $120 million to Azerbaijan, while Azerbaijan has been the attacker on Artsakh and Armenia,” Speaker of the Armenian National Committee of America Elizabeth Chuljyan told reporters at the 34th General Assembly of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) on February 28.
“What happened was not only against Artsakh. There are still more than 1,000 Azerbaijani troops on the sovereign land of the Republic of Armenia. Therefore, the US government must send a clear signal to Azerbaijan that it is not possible to give the ‘green light’ for the continuation of Azerbaijan’s offensive steps. Today we mention Sumgait, Baku, Gandzak, and Maragha, which were not special cases, but a continuation. Today, the Azerbaijani government continues to take the same steps. The opinion of the Armenian National Committee is that now the US government should suspend its assistance to Azerbaijan,” said Elizabeth Chuljyan.
Referring to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that Armenia has never pursued a policy of the Armenian Cause in the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Elizabeth Chuljyan stressed, “The Armenian people have rights. No government position or speech can change that. The Armenian National Committee has worked for the last hundred years not only for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, but also for a just solution. We saw progress last year when President Biden recognized it. But there is work to be done for compensation and justice, and the Armenian people must work in that direction. No government can take the right not only of this generation, but also of the future generation to fight.”
