“Armenia’s silence is somewhat understandable in the sense that the situation is really explosive,” ARF Bureau representative Hakob Ter-Khachaturyan told reporters at the 34th General Assembly of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun on February 28 regarding the fact that Armenia did not express a position in the context of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.
“The Russia-West conflict over Ukraine does not bode well for the region either. Turkey and Azerbaijan have always tried to take advantage of the opportunities, especially to increase their appetite for Armenia. From this point of view, we are very concerned that whatever the outcome of the conflict, we may receive blows and take unexpected steps by Azerbaijan and Turkey. Caution, therefore, is acceptable,” said Hakob Ter-Khachaturyan.
According to him, until Armenia recognizes Artsakh’s independence, it can not be required to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk. “Artsakh also has that right. The conflict that has no direct connection with us should not be brought to our region.”
