“What is called peace with Turkey and Azerbaijan, let’s prove that it is a continuation of capitulation,” said Ruben Melkonyan, a Turkologist, during a discussion organized by the Alternative Projects Group on March 22. In his estimation, Turkey and Azerbaijan are in favor of a peace with Armenia, which will have the purpose of a puppet and renounce its powerful red lines, which it has been defending for the last 30 years, as well as its identity and historical memory.
“There can be no peace in the East between the loser and the winner, especially since the negotiations for that peace continue to be led by the loser. According to the psychology of Eastern politics, they negotiate with the loser to fix the capitulation; they do not negotiate peace with the loser. Therefore, what is happening now – negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, negotiations between Armenia and Turkey – is a negotiation from the beginning to fix the defeat, to fix the capitulation,” said Ruben Melkonyan.
Based on all this, the Turkologist considers the peace agenda that is being drummed up by the Armenian government to be a false agenda. “Azerbaijan will make peace with the so-called Armenia, which is deprived of Artsakh and a part of Syunik, which is not able to defend its sovereignty, which has handed over its roads in the form of corridors, renounced its state attributes, and made certain changes in the Constitution. It will no longer be a state.” According to the speaker, the confirmation of all this was the statement made by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in the National Assembly that the five points proposed by Azerbaijan are, in fact, acceptable.
According to him, the government and state systems are engaged in ensuring the security of one person; the security of Syunik and all other settlements is subordinated to the security of that one person. He states that the resolution of the government is one that was voiced by one of the supporters of this government: “Let Aliyev come, occupy Armenia, and massacre my grandchildren, but let these people stay in power.”

The Turkologist is convinced, “The defeated government of Armenia must leave, and the new government has at least a theoretical opportunity to dismantle and discuss the previous agreements, not to accept some of them. In that case, we could change something. The actions of the current government can be included in textbooks on what the authorities should not do.”
