If everything was predetermined…

March 26,2022 10:30

Representatives of today’s ruling party have an “interesting” habit. When journalists ask them an unpleasant question or when opposition MPs criticize them, instead of actually answering, they give a “universal” answer: “Go and ask your bosses.” Earlier, in the “pre-revolutionary” period, the word was “thrown on the roof” by the oligarchs: “Hey, how much money did they give you to ask that question?” But now, let me say, the “rabiz” rhetorical trick has become universal, and even the deputies and ministers from whom it seems that one can expect a higher level of intellect apply it steadily.

It is based on the propaganda thesis that all the negative phenomena that exist now are conditioned, predetermined by the events of 10, 20, or 30 years ago. Even if one cannot find a direct connection between them, one can still come to the past through the “free associations” of psychoanalysis. For example, the government does not want to disclose the amount of money taxpayers have spent on rebuilding the state-owned cottage where the prime minister now lives. Why doesn’t it want to? The Civil Contract MP explains why years ago Robert Kocharyan spent much more money on killing a lion in Africa. If you ask me, the second president behaved very badly: it is unacceptable to kill a live animal for fun. But what does that have to do with the money being spent on the budget today?

However, these issues, although very important, are not crucial. The crucial thing, of course, is the security of our people, and here our government shows the same, to put it mildly, light-hearted attitude. Why did the Azeris leave our compatriots in Artsakh without gas? Because on November 19, 1999, Kocharyan signed the Istanbul Charter. Why are the Azerbaijanis occupying new territories and new settlements in Armenia and Artsakh now, at the end of March 2022? Because in 2016 or 2006, Sargsyan or Kocharyan were negotiating about what we are losing now.

Let’s just theoretically admit that this is true (let the “former” support their parties). But constantly talking about it is dangerous, and it is harmful for the state. If the current deplorable situation was predetermined in 1991 (such an idea is voiced), then first of all, the struggle and sacrifices were meaningless, and most importantly, nothing can be done now. It is a great excuse for one’s own incompetence.
