“There is pressure on Russia. The war is not only economic, but also political. This war is aimed at maintaining US sovereignty; it is the basis of a situation that the whole world is facing,” Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin mentioned at the discussion on the topic “Opportunities and prospects for EEU development in the context of collective economic sanctions against Russia by the West” organized by the Eurasian Expert Club on April 6.
He assured that Russia has always been against “hegemony” and continues to support the development of relations on the principles of mutual benefit. “Unfortunately, such a line has not been adopted by our Western partners.” As a result, according to the diplomat, we have the current situation. ”
A political-economic war is being waged against Russia, which is a catalyst for the long-awaited changes in the world, contradicting the model of American hegemony. They create serious preconditions for change in the world.” The ambassador recalled that the establishment of the EEU almost coincided with the first anti-Russian sanctions. This was followed by the coronavirus epidemic and the restrictions conditioned by it, in the context of which, according to the diplomat, the EEU continued to develop and showed its effectiveness.

“The current sanctions are unprecedented in scale. But this situation should stimulate our acceleration of integration within the framework of the Greater Eurasian Partnership,” said President Vladimir Putin. Ambassador Kopirkin stressed that Moscow understands that the line of isolation of Russia will be implemented through allies, including the EEU member states. “We expect that our common interests, our economic interconnectedness will dictate the understanding that we must stay together, develop together.”
The ambassador said that Moscow has expectations from its allies in this regard and is convinced that the necessary solutions will be found in all directions.
