Do we understand that if the Armenians of Artsakh leave, Syunik will be next?: Tevan Poghosyan

April 08,2022 18:15

Tevan Poghosyan thinks that we should unite and be able to convince the world that the current authorities do not represent the interests of the Armenian people, the Armenians of Artsakh. “The fear that the current Armenian authorities have forgotten or handed over Artsakh to the service of the Azerbaijani-Turkish agenda has been confirmed,” analyst Tevan Poghosyan, President of the International Center for Human Development, told Aravot.am. Answering the question about the consequences of the trilateral meeting in Brussels, Mr. Poghosyan said, “It is clear that there will be countries in the world that will welcome the Turkish-Azerbaijani agenda in their own interests, because it is in their interests. But in this case we forget that we are Armenia, it is not only our interests. It is not mentioning Artsakh and the different presentation of problems.”

According to Tevan Poghosyan, when something positive happens for Armenia, even if they agree that there is no written text, they talk about it at least in the form of “live,” but we did not see anything from the Brussels meeting. “We saw 3 texts that were different from each other. Yesterday’s government’s texts were so different today that one can even doubt whether this is like a well-known anecdote that says, ‘Yes, what can I do, you tell me.’ They come here and say that they do it for us. But from the very beginning they tried to publish other texts for Azerbaijan. And the first texts were more likely to not mention Artsakh, to avoid delimitations, but not about our main problems.” According to Tevan Poghosyan, Armenia must unite, be able to convince the world that the current authorities do not represent the interests of the Armenian people, the Armenians of Artsakh, and show that they will do everything behind the Artsakh Republic.

“It will be in the program sense, for example, to implement initiative ideas, such as, for example, Artsakh in 2030 with 200 thousand people, keeping Armenians there. We must now fight for the protection of the right and, even if we are not able to fight for the right in the near future, then at least pass it on to the next authorities so that we can not have lost the right at that time. We must address this issue today.” In response to our question of if he sees that resistance in Armenia, Poghosyan said that we must realize it, or at best understand that if we recognize Azerbaijan’s independence with Artsakh as a part of it, Armenians from Artsakh will not remain there. “Do we remember Vazgen Sargsyan’s words that one day Meghri will explode in Yerevan.

Do we understand that if the Armenians of Artsakh leave, Syunik will be next? In other words, one day Artsakh will explode here.” In other words, according to Tevan Poghosyan, the problem of the Armenian statehood is there; we must consider this process not only around Artsakh, but also in a complex way. “We must demand the recognition of Artsakh’s independence and take actions that will help our compatriots in Artsakh feel that the Armenian nation still stands for it. What was the statement of the Artsakh National Assembly about? It was a call to the Armenians that only we can overcome this together.”
