“Relax” Tsaghkadzor during the days of the attacks of the Azerbaijani army in Artsakh

April 09,2022 12:22

The Armenia and I Have Honor alliances held a rally entitled “By Defending Artsakh, We Defend Armenia” on April 5. It was organized on the eve of Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Brussels on April 6. The rally was crowded. In terms of energy, it differed from the previous ones. In terms of content, there was no news. In terms of the public demand to “take decisive action,” it was still uncertain. For several days, the issue of Robert Kocharyan’s participation in the rally became a topic of active internet discussions. There were even bold allegations that Kocharyan would find any reason not to participate in the April 5 rally.

Robert Kocharyan did not take part in the rally, but it is surprising why people focused on his participation, if there was a much more important circumstance to discuss. Thus, the first information about Kocharyan’s ill health was received on March 29 from the information spread by the advocacy team of the second president of the Republic of Armenia. The court of general jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan postponed the investigation of the alleged bribery case.

That day it became known that the second president of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan could not appear, his lawyer Hovhannes Khudoyan informed the court that he did not appear at the court session due to his ill health. The Defender had also submitted the relevant medical certificate, stating that according to the preliminary data, the treatment would last about 10 days.

On the eve of the April 5 rally, information appeared in the press that “Kocharyan was injured while skiing in Tsaghkadzor,” which, by the way, was not denied by his office. Then, the version was circulated that he would not be able to participate in the opposition rally for that very reason. On April 4, the coordinator of Kocharyan’s office, Bagrat Mikoyan, clarified that in a conversation with Sputnik Armenia, commenting on the news about his injury in the media, he said that the president had received the injury a week ago. “There is nothing sensational, any person who is engaged in active sports gets injured from time to time. President Kocharyan is currently receiving intensive treatment at home. Whether the president will take part in the rally or not will depend on his condition,” Mikoyan said.

Why are the above-mentioned dates possible? From the information provided by the coordinator of Kocharyan’s office, it becomes clear that the second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan in the last days of March, when the Azeri armed forces invaded Parukh-Karaglukh in Artsakh, and then it became obvious that with the active support of Russian peacekeepers. In those days, Robert Kocharyan left for Tsaghkadzor to rest, according to his usual lifestyle of “active sports,” as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, any politician-statesman who is friends with Putin would probably be right if he picked up the phone, called his former colleague, and asked what was going on in Artsakh at the hands of Russian peacekeepers…

And it is no longer necessary to know what activity Robert Kocharyan was injured doing, or in general, how serious the injury is that he received, or if he received an injury at all… The information provided by the coordinator of Kocharyan’s office is important. Kocharyan preferred “relaxation” during Azerbaijan’s advance in Artsakh. Therefore, do not demand more from Kocharyan than what he can do. Kocharyan can not oppose any trilateral document signed by Putin. Is there anyone who would have imagined that with the demand to invalidate the November 9, 2020 document, Kocharyan is calling our society to the streets for indefinite demonstrations and he will personally spend the night in Freedom Square for days.

If he did so, it would mean acting against the “peace” efforts of the Kremlin and Putin himself. And in general, what drastic actions can be expected from a politician who, in the conditions of a new stage of tension in Artsakh, when announcements in support of the people of Artsakh began to be heard from all over the world, prefers active rest?

So, do not expect more from Kocharyan than what he wants. And he, apparently, just expects that with the help of the Kremlin, power will be handed over to him on a “tray.”

But, as it seems, Pashinyan, in Putin’s opinion, is not a bad leader.
