The territories that Nikol Pashinyan considers Azerbaijani are Armenian: Eduard Sharmazanov

“This is not a peace agenda, this is a shoe-licking agenda. This is not a peace treaty, this is double capitulation. Even Nazi Germany has not been humiliated as much as Aliyev humiliates Pashinyan,” Eduard Sharmazanov, former NA Vice Speaker and member of the RPA Supreme Body, answered Nikol Pashinyan in his own words at the Mirror press club on Friday. Speaking about the lack of reservations about Artsakh in the statement of the Nikol Pashinyan-Ilham Aliyev meeting with the participation of CoE President Charles Michel in Brussels, Eduard Sharmazanov reminded that there is no Armenian-Azerbaijani dispute, there was an Artsakh conflict, which was not a territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is a matter of the right to self-determination, yet Azerbaijan has been trying to mislead the international community for 30 years.

Sharmazanov considers what is happening a capitulation against Armenia. He asked Nikol Pashinyan a question. “Why do you demarcate with the maps of the 1970s? Do it with maps from 1921-1926.” As a historian, Eduard Sharmazanov claims that in 1921, the territories of Tavush, Syunik, and Vayots Dzor regions were established in 1921 when Soviet Armenia and Soviet Azerbaijan emerged, and they were the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and Artsakh was recognized by the National Council of Soviet Azerbaijan as an integral part of Soviet Armenia, which is mentioned in the Azerbaijani press of those years. There is also Alexander Myasnikyan’s decision to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Armenia. Eduard Sharmazanov assures that by threatening war, Nikol Pashinyan will hand over everything. He sees the only solution to the problem as the removal of Nikol Pashinyan and his government by uniting the people and pro-state-national forces led by the opposition.

Sharmazanov repeated, “Nikol Pashinyan buried the Artsakh issue long ago. He washed his hands of Artsakh and Armenia. He goes to Brussels, comes back, and says there is nothing, it is the problem of the Russian peacekeeping mission.” Sharmazanov repeated that if the Russian peacekeepers had not been in Artsakh, Armenians would not have lived in Artsakh for 1.5 years. He asked Nikol Pashinyan under whose authority is the 41 km of the RA territory occupied by Azerbaijan for 11 months that the Armenian authorities do not make a sound about.

“He is not working alone. He is working with a large geopolitical team. He and Aliyev are working together. In 2018, there was a geopolitical conspiracy against the sovereignty of Armenia. Are there any Western forces that do not hide the fact that the Armenian people must give up their achievements? In 2018, Bolton, then the US President’s Security Adviser, came to Armenia and told the world that the Armenian people should abandon their historical stereotypes, but he did not speak out. They are the recognition of the genocide, the Armenianness of Artsakh, our church, traditional values, and I do not rule out the Armenian-Russian allied relations. In 2020, on the third or fourth day of the war, an article was published in his family newspaper saying that we should strive to establish separate relations with Turkey,” he said.
