The Council of Europe will use every available opportunity to raise issues, presented by me, concerning the violation of human rights of the
civilians of Artsakh.
Recently I addressed Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe on the humanitarian crisis appeared in Artsakh as a consequence of disrupting the gas supply by Azerbaijan, the survival of children, women and the elderly in such conditions as -5°C or -6°C temperature and also on the military aggression and provocations against the civilian population of Artsakh by Azerbaijan.
When being in Artsakh within the framework of fact-finding activities, I asked our international colleagues just from Artsakh to condemn the criminal behavior by Azerbaijan, take all the possible measures so that the fundamental rights of the civilians of Artsakh are protected.
In response, the Director of the Private Office of the Secretary General and the Deputy Secretary General Miroslav Papa assured me that the
Secretary General and the Council of Europe continue to closely follow developments regarding the recent conflict in and around
Nagorno-Karabakh and they will continue to use every available opportunity to raise questions concerning human rights and humanitarian matters pertaining to the conflict, including the pressing matters raised in my correspondence.
