“Tehran is the main guarantor of preserving Armenia’s territorial integrity in the Syunik issue”: Stepan Danielyan

April 18,2022 14:04

“Nikol Pashinyan, recognizing Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, allegedly tries to prevent a new war, but he will start a new, big war. It will not be between Armenia and Azerbaijan, but a bigger war that will involve Turkey, Russia, Iran, and maybe other countries. What is happening in Ukraine will seem like flowers. There will be a global, big war,” said political analyst Stepan Danielyan during a discussion on April 15, adding that the so-called peace program proposed by Nikol Pashinyan, for the first time, became the basis for contradictory statements by Russia and the other OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

Stepan Danielyan also thinks that they are trying to push Russia out of the region, expanding Turkey’s influence. Nikol Pashinyan actively supports it, but Russia will not agree with such a scenario. “We now keep Syunik not only thanks to Russia, but also to Iran, which is taking concrete steps. At the moment, the main guarantor of preserving Armenia’s territorial integrity in the Syunik issue is Tehran.” He is sure that the 44-day war started because of Pashinyan, while the latter considers his only mistake that he did not hand over the territories “on time.” “When he came to power, Pashinyan first of all arrested the CSTO Secretary General, taking a hostile step towards the organization ensuring Armenia’s security.

At the same time, he was fighting against the so-called thieves, talking about the export of the revolution, hinting that the current leaders of the CSTO member states may also sit down. Despite the unwritten rule that the former leaders of the country should not be punished, criminal cases were initiated against the second and third presidents of the Republic of Armenia. It was a signal that the same fate could befall the leaders of other countries. After a while, he announced that he did not want to talk to the leader of Azerbaijan, but wanted to talk to the people of Azerbaijan. So, he provoked a revolution. Then followed the events in Tavush, after which they demanded to start a war in Azerbaijan, and on the eve of the war threatened to make a statement, after which the Azerbaijanis would oppose the Baku authorities. It was, in fact, a declaration of war.  Before that, Pashinyan dismantled the format of the OSCE Minsk Group by negotiating with Aliyev in Dushanbe and Dubai.”
