“The well-known speech of the Prime Minister has opened a new page in the history of Armenia. We must accept this very coldly. After that speech, Nikol Pashinyan will not be able to hold office, and I am sure he will not hold office either. Moreover, according to the speaker, the current parliament can not continue its work either, as the applause of the ruling faction deputies confirmed that they were signing Pashinyan’s speech, which means that the majority has lost the moral right to pass laws regulating our lives.
“Nikol’s removal does not automatically mean the implementation of pro-Armenian, good scenarios. Let’s face it. There are no good scenarios and there won’t be any. If we manage to avoid the worst, it is already good,” Vahe Hovhannisyan thinks, adding that neither coldness nor pragmatism can turn Yerevan into Mariupol. He considers the change of narratives to be the main problem, as Nikol managed to convince the public that what is against him is for war.
He attributes the defeat of the opposition political forces to that. It is nonsense, but the fact that a force that led to a monstrous war that should not have happened, now confesses and convinces people that it is the bearer of peace. “Nikol does not come with the formula ‘peace at the cost of concessions,” Nikol leads us directly to war. The narrative of political forces must be peace with the removal of Nikol, preserving national interests.” Vahe Hovhannisyan considers the solution of this problem difficult, but possible. According to the speaker, much more can be seen for the restoration of Armenia than Nikol’s resignation; if we do not see the next steps, we will not be able to convince the public to fight. People need to be shown the vision of the restoration of post-war Armenia. Its absence was another defeat for the opposition after November 9. It must be done in a unified way with a common intellectual resource. “If the provisions of Pashinyan’s speech are implemented, Armenia will become a major anti-Russian platform. Our partners in Moscow, our ally, must understand this very well,” said Vahe Hovhannisyan, describing a situation when there will be devastation, thousands of refugees and a natural question will arise: what do we need Russia for, especially since we are willingly trying to have friendly relationships with our neighbors? In this context, he also does not consider the anti-Russian propaganda in Armenia or the propaganda against the Russian armed forces accidental.
