“I mean, why shouldn’t I have participated?” – this is how the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan responded to the questions why he decided to participate in the Torchlight procession. In response to the observation that he thinks that it is politicized with his participation, Serzh Sargsyan answered, “Do you mean that I have refused to be a citizen? Politics is one thing, being a citizen is another. Every politician must first of all be a citizen.”
The journalists recalled Nikol Pashinyan’s statements that during Serzh Sargsyan’s presidency, the bar of Artsakh was lowered and they asked if such a demand was made before him, Serzh Sargsyan answered, “No. What does that mean? I think it is not appropriate to answer such questions on our feet, however, Azerbaijan did not want to talk about any benchmark at all since 1988. Is it a fact that should make us give up our goals? Of course not. All those documents are there. Ask Nikol Pashinyan to publish what they offered in 2019. What is the milestone for him in general?”
