Armine Adibekyan, expert on Azerbaijan, introduced to the journalists at the “Hayeli” press club the reasons for their struggle. “It’s our security, our survival. It’s against the internal enemies who have criminal agreements with the external enemies. This is a struggle for dignity.”
According to her, many don’t join the oppositional movement for several reasons. She said that they are citizens who don’t trust the former authorities and the movement initiated by them. Some people are afraid to make the wrong choice again. “But we can state that the basis which was under Nikol Pashinyan, doesn’t exist anymore. He cannot use the administrative resource, he doesn’t have that basis anymore.”
According to her, the authorities use the issues of POWs and use their relatives against the movement. “Those people are hostages to the authorities, they are afraid to take some steps so that they won’t harm their children and relatives in captivity.”
She addressed the relatives of POWs saying that those boys had been taken as prisoners because of the “infirm tenure”. She said that these authorities would never want to return the POWs and will use their relatives on every occasion.

Armine Adibekyan also referred to the topic of “robbery”, which is being circulated by the authorities, saying that they have had at least four years to initiate at least one criminal case and apply to a court, but there are no verdicts. According to her, a large number of people are afraid of the return of “the formers”. “But formers won’t come into power in a way you imagine – neither Serzh Sargsyan nor Robert Kocharyan will become president, they don’t have such ambitions.”
She thinks that the organizers of the movement should name a leader who is not identified with the former leaders of Armenia. But the former leaders should reach an agreement about this person, and would say that they are giving all of their resources to get the country back on its feet.
