Green development in line with the principals of the European Green Deal has become a key priority for EU programming across the globe

Within the framework of the Europe Day 2022 celebrations in Gyumri, the EU Ambassador Wiktorin also met schoolchildren participating in an eco-camp organised by the “EU4ENVIRONMENT: Green community – resilient future” project. Ambassadors and representatives from EU member states joined the event.

The meeting commenced with a symbolic tree-planting ceremony in a municipal park in Gyumri in line with the urban greening activities planned in the framework of the Project implemented in Lori, Tavush, and Shirak provinces of Armenia., Ambassador Wiktorin had a fruitful discussion with the young people about their role in championing eco-conscious behaviour and shared the vision of the European Union for going green.

‘Green development in line with the principals of the European Green Deal has become a key priority for EU programming across the globe. 30% of the EU’s Neighbourhood, Development, and International Cooperation Instrument support climate objectives. In Armenia, we will build on the portfolio of our environmental programs and intensify our engagement with the Government and civil society on prompting the green agenda to minimize the risks of climate change, preserve nature and biodiversity, and ensure the well-being of people in harmony with the ecosystem’’ emphasized Ambassador Wiktorin.
