The Helsinki Committee of Armenia (HCA) human rights non-governmental organization continues monitoring of peaceful assemblies in the Republic of Armenia.
The political crisis in the Republic of Armenia that was caused by the 44-day war of 2020 has not in fact been resolved yet. The country’s civil and political life is characterized by an unprecedented strain and periodic heightened tensions. It is only natural that political tensions in Armenia should affect the situation with freedom of assembly in the country. Therefore, the HCA decided that it was urgent to publish this Report.
The Report addresses major violations, incidents and other occurrences that were registered during the assemblies organized and held by a number of opposition political forces, initiatives and citizens over the period from April to May 13, 2022.
