“The whole region is arming, the whole world is arming and militarizing, but there is a country in the world that does not do that. It is Armenia. This is phenomenal,” said Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan during the 28th discussion held by the Armenian Project scientific-educational NGO in France Square.
According to him, the opposite should have happened after the defeat. Referring to the public moods and reactions in Armenia, he noted, “We have a change in the natural reaction of our society to secondary agendas. For example, the public is taught to operate drones. Teaching how to fly it, as Karen Igityan says, is a matter of a few hours for the engineering team. On the other hand, there is no need for all three million to know how to fly a drone. Such topics are put on the agenda in order to divert attention from the fact why the system does not work, which should ensure the effect of everyone doing their job.”
Speaking about the statement of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the murder of the Armenian soldier, the Turkologist said, “Before they did not do that either, now they do it to shut the mouths of the national forces. On the one hand, you have the murder of your soldier, the conquest of your territory, because three days ago a part of Syunik region was occupied by Azerbaijan, on the other hand, the statement of the Armenian MFA, which is not a scathing statement, states that we apply to the international community to rebuke Azerbaijan. You reaffirm that you will not keep your border, but the troops of another country. You completely eliminate the protective function. When you want to sit in Yerevan so that other countries can ensure your safety instead of you, it does not matter what camp they are from. Turkey is a member of the OSCE. It can also say, you are appealing to the international community, I am also in the international community, I am bringing my troops to your territory. By and large, they are doing that now.”
