“I do not accept that approach and criticism. If the police used brute force at that time, does that not give me the right to fight against Turkification? I am fighting for Artsakh not to be part of Azerbaijan. What does what you said have to do with each other?” Levon Kocharyan, the son of the second president of Armenia, told reporters during the resistance movement demanding the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan. The actions of the police were more violent against peaceful protesters.
“Let’s go back four years and remember what slogans this government came with: it will not be what it was before. They cheated. Such statements deviate from the main agenda,” Levon Kocharyan added.
In response to the questions of if he has political calculations or if he aspires for the post of Yerevan mayor, he answered, “I do not aspire to any position. If the movement succeeds, I do not want and plan to take any position. And the mayoral elections are next year, and I have not had discussions about it either in the faction or in the family.”
As for the qualifications that Robert Kocharyan wants to solve the issue of his son’s career through the resistance movement, Levon Kocharyan said, “These are empty talks. Neither I nor my father have any personal issues. If we did, we would not return. Our heads would be calm, and so would their heads, so there are no such ambitions.”
