Joint statement of the Embassy of the French Republic in Yerevan and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Yerevan
The Franco-German Youth Office OFAJ (Office franco-allemand pour la Jeunesse)/ DFJW (Deutsch-Französische Jugendwerk) is organising, in cooperation with the Europäische Akademie Otzenhausen and Rue de la Mémoire, a meeting with the title “New fields of cooperation in the frame of the EU Eastern Partnership – how can youth contribute to its future?”. The event will take place at the occasion of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
We, the French and the German Embassy in Yerevan, are happy to announce that ten young people from Armenia will participate in this event, which will take part from June 6th to 10th 2022 in Strasbourg (France). On this occasion, our Embassies have decided to host a joint reception for the participants from Armenia, which took part on Tuesday, May 31th in the premises of the French Embassy. Ms. Anne Louyot, Ambassador of France in Armenia, and Mr. Viktor Richter, Ambassador of Germany in Armenia, jointly opened the reception. The event was also an opportunity for the young Armenian participants for networking, getting to know each other prior to their travel to Strasbourg and ask some questions to the two Ambassadors.
We are convinced that the youth encounter in Strasbourg will be a great opportunity for the participants from different countries to get valuable insights into the work of the European Union, the nature of the French-German friendship and a possibility to meet peers from other countries and thereby deepen their knowledge of Europe EU countries and the Caucasus. Various meetings and exchanges with political, academic and civil society actors as well as visits to European EU and Franco-German institutions will greatly help to provide those insights.
This project, which we see as a good example of the French-German cooperation worldwide as well as in Armenia, will encourage the young participants to express themselves and address issues related to the European Neighbourhood Policy and the cooperation carried out in the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
The event will include young people between 18 and 30 years from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Germany and France that are engaged in civil society projects and highly interested in socio-political topics, EU-politics and international relations.
The expenses for full board and accommodation will be provided and paid by the organisers.
