The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan, answered the question during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly about how the deputy minister has been included in the demarcation and delimitation commission. The second meeting should be this week; does know when it will be and based on what agenda? “I am aware of the first meeting, well, it was a constructive meeting.”
In response to the question about how after the constructive meeting he mentioned, an Armenian soldier was killed by an enemy sniper on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, so how is it constructive, the minister answered, “The discussion of the specific place was a constructive, normal meeting. Dear people, for example, none of you are beating each other now, aren’t you? Now those meetings have taken place, there has been a constructive, normal, professional discussion. Quite important issues were raised for the first meeting, a certain agenda of work has been set, in that sense we appreciate it.”
The journalists clarified, that is, that the Armenian and Azeri officials did not beat each other during the meeting, is it already constructive? The public does not understand that it is constructive when there are casualties. He answered, “That meeting went quite well and the incidents hinder the process. Yes, it is reprehensible when such behavior can be followed by a normal working phase and our innocent soldiers, who are defending the homeland, can fall victim to such nonsense.”
The minister said that each side will bring what they have and discuss what they will be guided by in the commission. The issue of enclaves was discussed or not, Sanosyan answered that he would not come to tell what he and his deputy minister were talking about. “Various issues were discussed. It was only the first meeting, each side will still state its position. There is a legal basis for all this. Both sides must have a legal basis for both enclaves and borders. It is obvious that we have a legal basis for Artsvashen.”
