CSTO PA Council Meeting is Held in Yerevan
On June 6, at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex the meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) was held.
Thanking the Armenian side for the hospitality, the Chairman of the CSTO PA and RF FA State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin in his welcome speech the participants of the meeting on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of signing the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. To his assessment, the decision of the heads of the member countries allowed to form an interstate cooperation system in the Eurasian region, which gives opportunity to the member countries of the Organization to face the challenges and the dangers. Vyacheslav Volodin has noted that the Parliamentary Assembly has its contribution on ensuring the security and the sovereignty of the states and has added that the rapprochement and harmonization of the national legislation is a main goal.
The Chairman of the CSTO PA touched upon the importance of the implementation of the peacekeeping mission of the member states and the continuous development of that potential, the holding of the electoral processes, the expansion of the parliamentary cooperation, the agreed work on the international platforms and other issues.

Afterwards, the delegates of the CSTO member countries discussed a wide scope of issues, referred to a number of documents outlining the cooperation guidelines. Ideas were exchanged on the urgent items of the regional and international agenda.
A reference was made to facing the challenges and the threats of security of the activities of the Republic of Armenia in the context of the implementation of the chairmanship priorities.
During the meeting the delegates of the member countries discussed the procedure of the implementation of the September (2021) session decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the activities of the reporting period of the CSTO member states, the improvement of the legal provision of the peacekeeping activities of the CSTO member states, the electoral processes of the member states and a number of other items.
The themes regarding the strategy of 2021-2025, the financing of the PA activities, the participating in the international observation mission were also on the agenda.
