“Grants received from the European Union amounted to 4 billion 875.4 million AMD in 2021, which amounted to 39.4% from official grants received during the year. The total amount of official grants amounted to 12 billion 380 million AMD,” the Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan noted at the joint sitting of the Standing Committees on European Union and on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs held on June 6 during the preliminary discussions of the annual report on the RA State Budget Execution for 2021.

“The shortage of the state budget amounted to 320 billion AMD in the reporting year, 88 billion 227 million AMD of which were loans and credits, which were tied to the expenditure directions defined by the state budget, i.e., the targeted loans. Among these targeted loans, which amount to 88 billion 227 million AMD, 19 billion 403 million AMD or 22% of the total such loans and credits were received from the European Union,” the Minister clarified, touching upon their importance in the expenditure directions.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paruyr Hovhannisyan referred to the work and programs implemented by the Ministry.

The Chair of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Gevorg Papoyan inquired about the programs to be implemented with the support of 2.6 billion EUR promised by the EU. Paruyr Hovhannisyan informed that he was in Brussels in March to hold consultations on the issue. “All partners assured that there will be no delay due to the general crisis. Moreover, a meeting of the European Union-Armenia Partnership Committee was held in Yerevan in late April, where we discussed the process of the implementation of programs in detail. The same was done by the Minister of Foreign Affairs during the Partnership Council in May 18. Now the programs are on their way, and there seems to be no risk of delay,” the Deputy Minister said. He also informed that discussions with the EU on visa facilitation continue. “Together with the European Union, we always keep this issue on our agenda,” Paruyr Hovhannisyan noted.
