Homeros Arakelyan (55 kg), Vigen Nazaryan (87 kg), and Albert Vardanyan (130 kg) won the right to wrestle for a bronze medal after the first day of the European U20 Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships in the Italian capital. However, according to the website of the Armenian Wrestling Federation, Homeros Arakelyan cannot enter the mat due to injury.
Five more students of senior coach Armen Babalaryan are involved in the fight, two of whom will fight for the championship title on Wednesday. It is interesting that the rivals of both our wrestlers will represent Georgia. Suren Aghajanyan (60 kg) defeated Nihat Zahit Mammadli (Azerbaijan) in the semifinals and will compete for gold with Dmitry Khachidze, while Ashot Khachatryan defeated Marian Golubovsky (Ukraine) in the penultimate round.
