Today, the Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Karen Bisharyan, carried out the decision on the appeal made by lawyer Hakob Martirosyan and MP from the Armenia parliamentary faction Artsvik Minasyan against the Court of First Instance’s decision not to initiate a criminal case on high treason against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The court decided to reject the appeal filed by Artsvik Minasyan and Hakob Martirosyan.
After Nikol Pashinyan’s statement in the National Assembly on April 13, “Yes, the war could have been prevented and we would have had the same result, but without casualties,” the parents of the fallen soldiers had submitted a motion to the Prosecutor’s Office to initiate a criminal case. The parents were recognized as the legal successors of the victims, and they demanded that Nikol Pashinyan be included as an accused.
Lawyer Hakob Martirosyan and Artsvik Minasyan, a member of the Armenia faction of the National Assembly, had submitted a report on the crime, demanding to initiate a criminal case on the fact of apparent treason committed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The lawyer claims that Nikol Pashinyan committed a seemingly grave crime, high treason, an act envisaged by Article 299, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. Martirosyan claims that the criminal prosecution bodies have committed violations, and mentioned that he sees features of a crime in it.
