The Standing Committee on Foreign Relations convened an extraordinary sitting chaired by Eduard Aghajanyan. The issue of the election of the Deputy Chair of the Committee was included in the agenda.
Eduard Aghajanyan informed that on July 1, the NA deputy Hayk Mamijanyan submitted a letter about his resignation from the position of Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. According to Article 150.1 of the Constitutional Law the NA Rules of Procedure, his powers as the Deputy Chair of the Committee were terminated.
According to Article 138.11 of the Constitutional Law the NA Rules of Procedure, the relevant faction should nominate a candidate for the position of Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.
“The Committee cannot elect a Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee, because the relevant faction did not present a candidate within the specified period. Accordingly, the Committee will be guided in accordance with the requirements of the Constitutional Law the NA Rules of Procedure,” the Committee Chair noted.
