“Remember well, the pipes that supply you with oil and gas are abundantly flooded with the blood of Armenians”: Demonstration at the United Nations

July 20,2022 12:12

The members of the Resistance movement organized a protest in front of the UN Armenian office in defense of the illegally arrested citizens. A few days ago, producer Armen Grigoryan died during a session in the courtroom. Songwriter Anna Hovner presented her dissatisfaction to the UN and international organizations.

According to her, people die in the courts of Armenia right in front of those structures, the police use brutal force against citizens, remain unpunished, and they remain silent. “American and European officials, Armenia has become one of the leading countries in the number of political prisoners among CoE member states.

If in all other cases you are talking about your political interests appropriately or inappropriately, where are your values when innocent people are rotting in prisons, deprived of medical care, and imprisoned at the whim of one person for their political views? People die on live video during hearings, but you are silent. Isn’t this all against your principles and your much-loved and often mentioned democracy? Is this your democracy? Using detention as a deterrent is a bad example of repression.”

According to her, there are repressions in RA, and international structures live by double standards. “The world not only does not pay attention to the political prisoners in Armenia, but tries to have fun with the dictator, aggressor Aliyev, who takes the lives of Armenians, in the name of the European Union, in Baku. Remember well, the pipes that supply you with oil and gas are abundantly flooded with the blood of Armenians, including the blood of 5,000 boys who died in the last Artsakh war, including the blood of political prisoners who died in prisons because of Nikol, and including the blood of Armen Grigoryan.

Armen Grigoryan, who was arrested only because he did not share the same political views with these authorities. I want the international community to know that there are still those patriotic Armenians who cannot be silenced. We will not tolerate the existence of these criminal authorities in our homeland. We will go to the end and we advise you to join us and not be silent.”
