On July 22, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan and the Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) David McAllister, who had arrived in Armenia on regional visit, had a joint press conference.
Eduard Aghajanyan highlighted the meetings of the Delegation led by the Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) David McAllister with the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the NA President Alen Simonyan, the NA Vice President Ruben Rubinyan, the members of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and the representatives of the political forces in parliament. According to him, during the meetings the modern regional problems, particularly, during the post-war period the developments in the context of the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Armenian-Turkish relations, the problems combining them the ways of solutions, as well as the issues of the return of Armenian prisoners of war, the protection of historical-cultural heritage and other numerous issues.
As Eduard Aghajanyan has assured, the positive activities of the European Parliament and the influence on the given processes were recorded, particularly, concrete statements and resolutions, which relate to the Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno Karabakh, the statement regarding prisoners of war being held in Azerbaijan by the European Parliament have been singled out. The Armenian side has recorded them, and it is thankful to his European colleagues for this principled and objective position.
The Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs David McAllister also emphasized the held meetings, stressed the importance of the issues discussed during that period. He also underscored the active role of the European Parliament in the work for the solution of the regional problems.

David McAllister reminded that the European Parliament called on the two countries to return prisoners of war. The Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs also noted that the Council of Europe would continue to be in contact with their Armenian colleagues in any case.
Answering to the journalist’s question, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan has noted that the position of the Armenian side has not been changed in the Armenian-Turkish relations, and any precondition is unacceptable for the Armenian side.
