“The greatest enemy is not treason, the greatest enemy is indifference,” RPA speaker, former NA vice-chairman Eduard Sharmazanov said at the Hayeli press club. He said that he is often asked the question: what is the reason for our society to give up or to live with a “sinister agenda”?
“The reason is one: we don’t know our history, we don’t know ourselves, we don’t know the neighbors around us. From this comes spiritual and moral hunger. We have a big problem: content is drowned out by what’s pretend. We put on a show. The Creator created us to live and create in the Armenian Highlands. Armenia and at least this small part of Artsakh is the homeland given to us by the Creator, and our function should be to live, create in this homeland, build it and pass it on to future generations.”
He said that a bad leader is the one who destroys the army, demoralizes, discredits and arrests heroes, destroys spiritual values, attacks the church, the church pays taxes to its fund, and in the end gives the enemy a large part of your homeland, and 75% of Artsakh. “It does all this as a result of a war that could not have happened. The historical homeland of Turks is Altai and Middle Asia, look where we are, where Altai is. They came by conquest. There would be no Turkish statehood if there were no Turkish conquests. Until 1047, there were no Turks in Armenia. Their first raid was in 1047.
The Christian world, Eastern Christianity was defeated due to its disunity in the battle of Manazkert in 1071, when the Armenian-Byzantine army was defeated. After that, the Turks came, years later, centuries later, in 1453, with the capture of Constantinople, the era of Eastern Christian states ended in our region, and the Byzantine Empire immediately became the Ottoman Empire.

Sharmazanov warned where this policy is leading, “From Batumi to Tbilisi, 148 mosques have already been built. This is the era of that peace. Since so many tourists from different countries come to us by bus, in 5-10 years you will find out that there are tens of thousands of people of Turkish origin in Armenia who may have even obtained Armenian citizenship, married girls, and in the end they will say: our community needs a mosque. They will build the mosque, they will say: our community needs a deputy, it needs a deputy. Today, one of the important parties in Bulgaria is engaged in Turkish lobbying. The same will happen in our ally Russia. If they don’t understand, Pan-Turkism is the first curse of the Russian Empire.”
Sharmazanov said that it was not surprising for him when the Gray Wolves came to Yerevan and showed their sign in Tsitsernakaberd, because in today’s Armenia there is a regime that shows indifference to our national interests and does not serve the aspirations of Armenians. “If the state does not serve the spiritual heritage of the given nation, science, national traditions, national goals, the restoration of the homeland, the expansion of the borders, that state is not worth a penny.
Our third republic, no matter how much they want to name it, from 1991 to 2018, this was the republic of our dreams, Armenians lived in paradise, there was no corruption. When has it happened in history that we took land from the Turks? When did it happen in history that we organized military parades for 30 years, when every Armenian walked with his head held high? When did an Armenian official go to Turkey and speak from the position of the winner? It was our time: Ter-Petrossian, Kocharyan, Serzh Sargsyan. And what did we do with 30 years of history, and I don’t rule out that with the help of the Turks?”
