“We don’t have to save Armenia, but we have to save ourselves. As an Armenian, I am solving the problem of saving my children and my only grandchild. For me it starts on the 8th in the square. So, whoever wants to drink coffee that weekend or celebrate can do what they want, but if we reach September 1-2- I will not set an artificial deadline- but if we let it flow on its own and let this same classical situation be government-opposition, insults, and let the government do what it wants to do, we will get to Aghavno, Berdzor, more clashes, more casualties… all of this is on the balance sheet of citizen Pashinyan. These are his victims. I don’t want to be its messenger myself,” Raffi Hovhannisian, the founder of the “Heritage” party and the first foreign minister of Armenia, announced at a press conference on August 5.
At the press conference, he pointed out the mistakes and flaws of these authorities, proposed his solution to create a National Trust Council, and said that on August 8, he will be at Republic Square.
According to the residents of Berdzor, after meeting with Arayik Harutyunyan yesterday, their mayor said that they have 1 month to leave the city. Meanwhile, Raffi Hovhannisian announced that he will go to Stepanakert through the Berdzor corridor on September 1. In response to the question in this regard, Raffi Hovhanisian said, “I go to Artsakh every year on September 2 and May 9. I don’t think that decision is legal. It does not follow from the announcement, and I think it is another step towards the depopulation of Artsakh. Even if Aghavno is not included, imagine what that means. This means that the Goris-Stepanakert highway, created and built by pan-Armenian efforts, is already being closed. If this happens, what the Armenian people opened in 1992 with united efforts is already closed. When Artsakh was drowning, the Armenian people performed that miracle and opened it.”
