“We still have time to find solutions both for the road and for the residents. We still have about 1.5 years. We will work with the Artsakh government and find solutions,” Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Armenian Security Council, said about Berdzor and Aghavno about a month ago.
On August 5, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Artsakh Hayk Khanumyan warned the residents of Aghavno and Berdzor that they should leave their communities by August 25.
In a conversation with Aravot.am, Andranik Chavoushian, the village head of Aghavno in Artsakh, was asked if Khanumyan did not give clarifications when he said that and what has changed during this one month that the residents are being evacuated urgently. He answered, “They signed some papers. They said in a letter that you should leave the corridor, because the new road was built by Azerbaijan. Knowing about Azerbaijan’s aggression, they have developed a concern. That person is making an evacuation plan (Khanumyan-ed.), what should he do? Everything is clear from Nikoli’s withdrawal of conscripts from Artsakh. Now on what basis should they stay? The people are honest. They want to fight, not to leave, but they will remain in the blockade, they will interfere. Will we give victory to the Azeris? Pashinyan managed to do all this, and now he says: you decide. Or you stay, stay within Azerbaijan. In other words, at the state level, the questions should be addressed to Nikol Pashinyan, who said this has nothing to do with the corridor. We will fight, we will try. What happened now? What should a resident do? Pashinyan has weakened and dissolved them so much, and now he blames it on someone else? It is not news that the Armenian people have been left without a leader.”
Andranik Chavoushian said that the residents of Aghavno are desperate, without prospects. They are going to leave their place of residence. “What should they do? They have no other choice. Let them all die, for what? “For nothing,” for them to consider those who died as nothing? The residents are honest. Let them bring a serious army and protect them. The state must protect its compatriots. If it doesn’t do that, what can the residents do, even if they really want to?”

It is unknown where the residents of Aghavno will go after leaving the settlement. For now, they received 40 thousand AMD to help with the payment of rent and that’s it.
By the way, the residents of Berdzor also blocked the Goris-Stepanakert road on August 5, demanding not to hand over Berdzor and to give them clear guarantees.
