As far as I understand, the majority of Armenians don’t show any interest in the process of handing over the Armenian settlements in the “Lachin Corridor”. Anyone who shows mild interest is probably completely satisfied with the explanation of the authorities that the handover was intended by tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020. However, those who take the time to read that document will easily be convinced that there is not a single word about Berdzor and Aghavno, and the parties should have agreed on an alternative road plan within three years. What is the reason that now, a year and a half later, even though, according to the same Armenian authorities, no plan has been agreed upon yet, there was an urgent need to hand over those settlements? No one explains it.
But, I repeat, these are such delicacies that the majority of the population of our country is not interested in. And does all that worry the opposition of Armenia? To tell the truth, I have not come across RPA or ARF statements, in which not only an assessment of recent events is given, but also serious talk about what needs to be done. If Pashinyan’s government resigns immediately, as they claim, and the power passes into their hands, what steps should be taken? If we accept that this concession is inevitable, then what will be the next one, and what is the boundary line, after which no other concessions will be possible? I have not heard a serious, considered answer to those questions from any politician.
…September will come, and the opposition figures will return to the parliament and say that Pashinyan is a “Turk” and a “traitor”. The prime minister will answer that they are the traitors, because Kocharyan was negotiating “this and that”, and Serzh Sargsyan was discussing “this and that” topics with the Azerbaijanis, and in general, the fate of Berdzor and Aghavno was decided back in 1991.
In other words, it is “constructive dialogue”. It can be said that both sides complement each other. If I didn’t know these people, I would think they had an arrangement.
