Some residents of Aghavno don’t know where to move to, it is not clear whether the village should be evacuated on August 20 or 25

The Aghavno community of the Kashatagh region of Artsakh has been without electricity since yesterday, and there is no means of communication. It was not possible to speak with the village leader Andranik Chavoushian to understand the current situation in Aghavno.

In a conversation with Aravot.am, a resident of Berdzor and freedom fighter Mher Mazmanyan (in the photo) said that he is currently busy with the problems of moving his friends’ families. “We have nothing to do with Aghavno either. A local family whose son was killed in the war is moving to Etchmiadzin. We are dealing with accommodation issues. Since the morning, we have not been able to contact the village either. When talking with one of the residents, he only said that the connection has become a problem; now you have to cut a longer distance to be available,” informed Mher Mazmanyan.

Regarding the latest information about the residents of Aghavno, our interlocutor mentioned that everyone has some anxiety. “I mean the residents who are currently in the village. One of the families has an urgent problem of renting an apartment. She is a single mother with two minor children. The car has to come near to be loaded, but she doesn’t know where to go. The rent problem has been solved with the support of friends, but now we are trying to find a suitable apartment in Etchmiadzin. There are several families that have such a problem. There is no clarity. First of all, there should have been clarity of terms by state bodies. People are constantly confused whether the deadline is August 20 or August 25. We don’t know.”

Mher Mazmanyan emphasized that there is no official document: should the Kashatagh region be evacuated by August 25 or August 20? “Is there a written evacuation plan or not? The number 25 was said in general, orally. Hayk Khanumyan and Mr. Beglaryan came and spoke about it. Now we don’t know whether it will be the 20th or 25th.”

Although the November 9 statement did not envisage the depopulation of the Berdzor corridor, the residents of Berdzor, Aghavno, and Sus were ordered to leave their settlements.
