Aravot.am asked Lernik Hovhannisyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Artsakh, about what decision was finally made regarding the monumental art monuments evacuated from Berdzor, Aghavno, and Sus, which are handed over to the control of the Azerbaijanis.
“We have just left Berdzor. We removed the last memorial stone, and all the monuments are now concentrated in one place, then we will discuss their issue accordingly,” said the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia. He added that there are various proposals related to their placement, which still need to be discussed and clarified.
“There is a park in the territory of the Holy Mother of God Cathedral of Stepanakert. We are discussing with the Diocese of Artsakh the issue of creating a corresponding park. There are suggestions and interests regarding the St. Hakob Church in Stepanakert. Parks should be created and these monuments should be placed there.”

Mr. Hovhannisyan added that solutions will be found in the near future. We wondered how many monuments this is about. “Basically, we removed the monuments of monumental art – khachkars and memorials. Their number is 47,” said the deputy minister.
