The 2022 STARMUS recipients of the Stephen Hawking Medal include poet and naturalist Diane Ackerman. “In reality, there is no difference between what we call science and what we call nature,” said Diane Ackerman at the press conference. “It’s a pity that when students enter the university, they are asked to choose between art and science, which is not quite right,” said Diane Ackerman, speaking about caring for the planet Earth and the world.
“I would like to point out from my own experience that when specialists from different fields come together, they come to such a final result that they would never have if they worked separately, let’s say, science for itself, art for itself,” he added. According to Diane Ackerman, “When looking at the Earth from space, we see a different picture. We clearly see that there are no political, geographical, and other restrictions, and all humanity is on one ship. Here we seem to turn the mirror on ourselves and see humanity as it is.”
