Consumer prices in Armenia continue to be high, and although inflation decreased slightly in July compared to June, the prices of food and non-food products are still significantly high, taking into account the average salary in our country.
The Statistical Committee published the socio-economic indicators. In July, according to the Statistical Committee, inflation was 8.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. Note that in June, again compared to the same period of the previous year, 9.8% inflation was recorded.
Inflation in construction amounted to 6.4%, prices of industrial producers decreased by 2.7%, freight rates decreased by 0.4%, and selling prices of agricultural producers increased by 7.3%.
Prices of basic necessities continue to be high.

According to official data, inflation in the food and non-alcoholic beverage product group was 13.5% in July, and in the bakery and cereal product group, it was 20.6%. High inflation was also recorded in the meat market, it was 12%, and in the fish and seafood product group the inflation was 8.3%.
Dairy products, cheese and eggs, among the important food items in the consumer basket of citizens, have also increased in price, inflation in this product group is 12.7%, and in the oil and fat product group, inflation is 6.1%. The price of fruit increased by 21.7%, vegetables by 0.9%.
During the observed period, the price of sugar and sugar increased by 7.5%, non-alcoholic beverages by 11.2%, the inflation in coffee, tea, cocoa product group was 12%. The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 8.2%.
According to the Statistical Committee, the inflation of non-food products was 8.2%. From this product group, for example, clothes have increased in price by 11.2%, shoes by 10.5%, cleaning products, detergents or other home care accessories by 10.5%.
Inflation in the service sector is 5.7%. The prices of gasoline and diesel fuel in July of this year decreased slightly compared to July of the previous year, but in July of this year, compared to June, the price of gasoline increased by 0.8%, and diesel fuel decreased by 0.4% in July compared to June.
In July of this year, gasoline inflation was 11.6% compared to last year’s July, diesel inflation was 43.2%, and in June, gasoline inflation was 13.3% compared to last year’s June, and diesel inflation was 45.4%. Note that according to the Statistical Committee, the economic activity index of our country in the 7 months of 2022 was 13.1%, and the GDP increased by 8.7% in the first quarter of this year. According to the data of the Statistical Committee, the average salary in our country in July was 239,631 AMD.
