“In the last one year, Azerbaijan has been preparing the ground with such means, so that if there is an opportunity, it will act aggressively against us and show that it is defending itself. It is not by chance that they presented the well-known August aggression as a revenge operation, as if their soldier was killed and they went for revenge,” military expert Mher Hakobyan made this observation in a conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.
Yesterday, according to Turan agency, during the consultation held at the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Minister Zakir Hasanov ordered the Azerbaijani army to be always ready for immediate and decisive prevention of possible provocations of the Armenian armed forces in Karabakh and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia issued a statement, noting that the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan continues to spread misinformation. “On the night of September 10-11, the units of the Armenian Armed Forces did not fire at the Azerbaijani positions located in the eastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone.”
According to Mher Hakobyan, Azerbaijan’s threats are real, and the situation is constantly connected with the Russian-Ukrainian war: “In recent days, the Russian armed forces have been doing badly on the front. In case of a certain development of the situation, official Baku does not rule out a military strike. The problem is that since they don’t know the extent of the so-called Ukrainian disaster in Russia, they are at least preparing for the possible version.

We will close the inglorious page of that era of peace in a shameful way.” As for the reaction of the Armenian side, the military expert noted that in recent years, in this propaganda struggle, the parties have accused each other so much that the Armenians are lying, no, the Azerbaijanis are lying, that they do not believe either side. However, as Hakobyan mentioned, it is important to consider the motive: “It is obvious that now Armenia is not so ready for war, and they are raising the peace agenda at the state level. Under these conditions, it is logical that we will not fire first.”
In this regard, Mher Hakobyan considers the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s statement as worrying, in which he stated that diplomatic efforts in the Artsakh issue are not yielding results. “He means the idea of the ill-fated Zangezur Corridor. But it should also be taken into account that it is already the second year and the silence in Baku is settling down, so to speak, there are concerns that Aliyev has resolved the Artsakh issue, there are Russian troops in Artsakh, official Stepanakert, etc. In this sense, they gradually become worried. After all, in this difficult international situation, everyone strives to be ready for everything, they are preparing for any option of development.”
