“The sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia is not a topic of discussion at all”: Pashinyan to the Civil Contract deputy

September 15,2022 12:33

Today, during the NA-government question-and-answer session, Civil Contract deputy Davit Danielyan said that he has been in Syunik since the start of the military operations, and we have lost soldiers and positions. He urged the Prime Minister to declare that regardless of the scale of the military operations, we will not change our decision, that we will protect the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, we will not make any concessions from Syunik, Gegharkunik, or Vayots Dzor under any circumstances, we will stand by our decision until the end. According to him, those words of Pashinyan will offend the soldiers because any discussion related to sovereignty is unacceptable.

Pashinyan answered, “What are we discussing at all? So where do these thoughts originate? These thoughts can originate either in the heads of the enemy or in the heads of people under the influence of hostile propaganda. I keep repeating: the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia is a red line for us. I want to understand what we are discussing- the question of our territorial integrity? I wanted to talk about it metaphorically yesterday, but if it has come to that, Armenian sovereignty cannot be a topic of discussion at all. Every citizen of Armenia, regardless of gender and age, should have a weapon in hand to protect every square millimeter of our homeland if necessary. Armenian territories are not unlimited. Armenia has a sovereign territory. It is the territory of Soviet Armenia, 29,800 square kilometers. I refuse to discuss it at all.”
