With war on our mind

September 16,2022 09:33

Armenia is in a state of war, which will continue for years, maybe even decades, if, of course, we manage to preserve our state. It seems to me that this harsh reality is not fully understood by the authorities, political forces, and most of the society of our country. Realizing this situation, you should probably understand that there is no point in waiting for tomorrow or the next day that “everything will fall apart,” and therefore postpone any work or any project until this situation is over. All state, economic, educational, and cultural structures should work, and work better than assumed (and in the near future, unreal) in peacetime. Work with war in mind.

The priority, of course, is the army. In my opinion, we are underestimating the combat capability of our armed forces now, just as we were overestimating it before 2020. For example, I am sure that our army stopped the Azerbaijani advance during the last attack. Without belittling the role of international partners, we can record that our soldiers played a crucial role in this matter.

A certain seriousness is required from the authorities of Armenia in the matter of army and security. In particular, I would suggest that Prime Minister Pashinyan or the people who will lead the country in the future read the 100-page bids in which our military plans millions of dollars for armaments. Perhaps reading Facebook statuses and comments is a more interesting activity, but I think reading such “boring” documents is part of the duties of the first person of the state. By the way, I also assume that an official of that level should be clearer and more stable in his beliefs and intentions. And not to change his words 180 degrees in a few hours: “I sign” – “I don’t sign.”

I am not of the opinion that political life should be completely frozen during the war. Let there be rallies as well, although I don’t particularly like them in the case of combat operations. The debate between the government and the opposition must continue. The whole problem is how and what the debate is about. Now I see a petty, senseless, provincial crowd of uneducated people.
